Benefits of septic Tank Risers | Clean Earth Septic
For many individuals, the septic system is an “out of site, out of mind” utility that receives little attention until there’s a problem. Septic tanks are buried underground and if you’re not sure exactly where your tank and its components are located, it can be difficult to find your access ports. Septic tank risers are a simple, cost-effective solution to this problem that can provide long-term savings. Keep reading to learn more about septic tank riser installation in the Twin Tiers region, or contact us today to schedule service.

First things first, what is a septic tank riser?
A septic tank riser is a large diameter concrete or plastic pipe that runs vertically from the pump-out openings or access ports at the top of a septic tank up to ground level. Risers come in various heights to bring any access port to grade. A lid fits securely on the top of the riser and sits flush with the ground, eliminating digging and searching. Because the riser (sometimes called an extension) extends from your tank opening to the lawn surface, it makes accessing your septic tank for pumping, other maintenance or inspections much easier!

Installation
Our crew installs risers every week. Installation requires digging down to your septic tank lid or access port and fitting the riser to the opening. We’ll choose a riser that will extend to your lawn’s surface or cut one to size when possible. When it’s in place we’ll fill the area surrounding the pipe with dirt and secure the lid on top. You’re welcome to plant grass or mulch around the top to make the lid blend seamlessly into your yard or landscaping.

Benefits
There are a variety of benefits when it comes to septic tank risers.
  1. Installing a riser is a one-time cost.
Once the extension is in place you won’t need to pay for it again and your tank will be easy to access for pumping, maintenance and inspections.
  2. No more searching for your access ports!
When we bring your manhole cover to grade it will be visible at all times.
  3. No more digging!
This is especially beneficial during the winter months when digging open a buried manhole cover can take hours. Not to mention the mess it can make in your yard.
  4. It saves you money!
Time is money and when it’s easier to access your septic tank our crew can get your job done or your problem fixed more efficiently.
  5. It’s important to know where things are located.
Planning a new patio, home addition or backyard project? Knowing exactly where your tank and its components are located is a huge help. We’ll even draw you a diagram if you need it!
